Giving a Sussex child a Christmas to remember

Giving a Sussex child a Christmas to remember

Christmas is a magical time for children. It is, as the song goes, the most wonderful time of the year.

When a child is ill or in and out of hospital, it can be a tough time. There is a danger they may feel left out of the celebrations.

Rockinghorse and other children’s charities recognise how important it is to feel involved.

The fund-raising efforts of Rockinghorse provides vital medical equipment for the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and The Trevor Mann Baby Unit, and supports many essential projects which helps sick babies and children across Sussex.

But the charity also recognises the importance of having fun. It is vital that young people keep their spirits high when things aren’t going well, and you can’t beat some jolly festive spirit.

Christmas is always a highlight for the staff and volunteers at Rockinghorse. But last year Christmas was effectively cancelled due to the pandemic.

Christmas 2021

The charity is determined to make up for it in 2021.

Events they have planned include:

  • Giving Christmas presents to sick children across all the projects they support.
  • Holding a Christmas party for 250 outpatient children and their siblings
  • Organising a Santa’s Grotto for children in hospital
  • Placing 10 Christmas trees in the hospitals

Organising these activities requires sponsorship, so when Janella Merritt asked Rubix VT to get involved, we didn’t hesitate. We are very proud to play our part in the Rockinghorse Christmas celebrations.

May we be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas!
